ACT Teachers Rep plans third impeachment complaint against VP Sara next week

A House lawmaker confirmed on Thursday that a religious group plans to file a third impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte next week.

ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro told ANC's Headstart that the filing is 'already certain' and will take place within the coming days.

The House is currently processing two previous impeachment complaints: one from Akbayan Party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña and another from Makabayan bloc lawmakers, but these have yet to be forwarded to the Office of the House Speaker.

House Secretary General Reginald Velasco emphasized that they will proceed with the complaints according to the Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Proceedings once their legal department approves them.

With only three sessions left before Congress goes on Christmas break, Castro is not optimistic about transmitting the impeachment complaint to the Senate anytime soon but suggested convening the House Committee on Justice after the holiday to fast track proceedings.
