Makabayan bloc plans VP Sara Duterte impeachment

The Makabayan bloc plans to file an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday, December 4, with members now working to secure at least a third of the House of Representatives' support for the resolution.

Kabataan Party-list Representative Raoul Manuel disclosed that leaders from various organizations are eager to join as complainants, with around 50 representatives leading the filing and aiming to gather signatures from 106 lawmakers to automatically transmit the Resolution to the Senate.

The coalition's grounds for the case include fund utilization by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education, as well as Duterte's alleged disrespect during legislative hearings.

Makabayan bloc is urging colleagues at the House to 'act with integrity and political courage' by supporting the impeachment resolution, emphasizing their constitutional duty to hold public officials accountable.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin stated that the Office of the President has no involvement in the impeachment proceedings initiated by private citizens.
