QC mayor orders strict monitoring after convent COVID-19 outbreaks

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte orders strict monitoring of closed-setting facilities after 22 individuals tested positive for COVID-19 in a religious convent.

The Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) investigates possible causes of outbreaks in two convents, finding 115 cases at the Religious of the Virgin Mary and 22 cases at the Convent of Holy Spirit.

At the Religious of the Virgin Mary convent, 64 nuns and 50 staff members tested positive; no nun has been vaccinated while staff are fully vaccinated. Two patients are in severe condition requiring ICU care.
