Filipinos want Duterte to focus on jobs, economy in final SONA

Filipinos want President Rodrigo Duterte to focus on job creation and economic improvement during his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) this year.

According to a Pulse Asia survey conducted from June 7-16, the top priorities for Filipinos are creating jobs and livelihood opportunities, with significant interest also in controlling inflation and accelerating COVID-19 vaccination efforts.

The survey found that 38% of respondents want Duterte to discuss job creation, followed by improving the economy at 35%, controlling inflation at 33%, and speeding up vaccine distribution at 31%. Other concerns include increasing workers' pay, improving education, preventing Chinese incursions in the West Philippine Sea, and fighting corruption.
