PRC opens molecular lab in Mandaue, promises 4,000 daily tests

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) opened its molecular laboratory in Mandaue City on July 16, capable of processing up to 4,000 RT-PCR tests daily.

Senator Richard Gordon, PRC chairman, led the ribbon-cutting ceremony and noted that this facility has the largest swab testing capacity in Visayas and Mindanao.

The laboratory is expected to alleviate testing backlogs in Cebu City, which recently downgraded its quarantine status. Results are promised within 48 hours.

Funding for the P38-million lab came primarily from Security Bank, Nature’s Spring, and Geo Transport & Construction.
