PNP welcomes voluntary drug tests for political aspirants

The Philippine National Police (PNP) welcomed voluntary drug tests for political aspirants ahead of the May 2022 elections.

PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos praised this initiative as a positive example for the public, but emphasized that these tests are not mandatory and investigations will proceed if there is evidence linking candidates to illegal drugs.

The PNP stated it would document test results and assist through its Forensic Group with any requests from local or national candidates seeking drug testing.
