Authorities revise drug seizure estimate from two tons to 1.8 tons in Batangas

On Monday, authorities initially estimated a large drug seizure in Alitagtag, Batangas to be worth around P13.3 billion or two tons of shabu, but later revised it to 1.8 tons after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s inspection.

The confusion arose as police and officials were pressured by media inquiries to provide estimates based on simple mathematics without disclosing vital information crucial for the ongoing investigation.

Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. acknowledged the role of the media in asking questions but emphasized the importance of transparency while preserving evidence integrity.

Prosecutor Zapanta highlighted that they cannot disclose details that might jeopardize the case build-up, stressing the need to maintain evidence purity.
