PNP deploys over 3K police as SEBs for BARMM elections

Over 3,698 police officers are ready to serve as special electoral boards (SEBs) for the Eleksyon 2025 elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), if requested by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

At a Saturday News Forum, Police Maj. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba stated that these SEBs will be deployed in areas where teachers and other poll workers cannot reach.

As of May 5, 37 election hotspots have been identified with all but two located in BARMM.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is prepared to provide security for the upcoming elections, deploying a total of 220,817 personnel including 182,000 police officers and 37,817 from other law enforcement agencies.

COMELEC Chairman George Garcia expressed confidence that the midterm elections on May 12 will be peaceful and orderly with voting hours set from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., allowing early voting for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant voters between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m.
