PNP: 40 election-related incidents, 26 violent; 2,923 arrests, 3,011 guns seized

The number of validated election-related incidents (ERIs) in the Philippines has risen to 40 as of Thursday, according to an update from the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Out of these incidents, 26 are classified as violent and 14 as non-violent.

Most of the violent ERIs occurred in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao with eight cases, followed by seven in the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The PNP is still investigating 17 suspected ERIs across various regions.

A total of 2,923 individuals have been arrested for violating the election gun ban as of Thursday, primarily from Metro Manila (1,007), Central Visayas (380), and Central Luzon (360).

The arrests include PNP personnel, Armed Forces members, elected officials, security guards, civilians, and others.

A total of 3,011 firearms were seized during these operations.
