PNP denies role in circulating Duterte bar fight video

The Philippine National Police (PNP) denied involvement in the circulation of a viral video showing Davao City Representative Paolo Duterte allegedly assaulting a man at a bar.

A businessman, Kristone John Patria, filed a criminal complaint against Duterte for physical injuries and grave threats following an incident on February 23 inside Hearsay Gastropub Bar in Davao City.

PNP chief Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil stated that the police have yet to acquire a copy of the CCTV footage related to the altercation, which is part of their ongoing investigation.

The PNP confirmed no official role in disseminating either the video or Patria's affidavit and emphasized that they are currently working on obtaining evidence from the CCTV owner.

Vice President Sara Duterte dismissed the complaint against her brother as part of alleged political attacks by the Marcos administration, while Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon said the case is under evaluation by the Department of Justice pending sufficient evidence for a preliminary investigation.

Duterte acknowledged the existence of the video but stated that he has not received any official document regarding the complaint and refused to comment until formal charges are served.
