Davao Rep Duterte silent on DOJ complaint for injuries, threats

Davao City Representative and reelectionist Paolo 'Pulong' Duterte remains silent on a complaint for physical injuries and grave threats filed against him before the Department of Justice (DOJ).

In a video posted on his Facebook account on Saturday, May 3, Duterte told fellow Davaoeños that they have seen another video related to the incident but emphasized that he will not interfere with their decision in voting.

Duterte's legal team has yet to receive any official document from the DOJ or law enforcement agency regarding the complaint filed by businessman Kristone Patria.

Patria accused Duterte of inflicting physical injuries and issuing grave threats during an incident at a bar in Davao City on February 23, according to Articles 282 and 265 of the Revised Penal Code.

In his sworn affidavit, Patria claimed that Duterte physically assaulted him for nearly two hours, threatened him with a knife, handed him money after the beating, and turned off the CCTV during the incident.

The DOJ has received the complaint but no formal resolution or summons has been issued as of writing.
