PLDT loses AVC Women's Champions League quarterfinal to Zhetysu

PLDT lost their AVC Women's Champions League quarterfinal match against Zhetysu on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Zhetysu won the first set convincingly, 25-13, after pulling away with a strong mid-set run, while PLDT led briefly in the second and third sets but could not sustain their momentum as Zhetysu closed out the match with a decisive run.

Valeriya Yakutina's spike clinched the victory for Zhetysu in a 25-20 final set win.

Tatyana Nikitina led the Kazakhs with 19 points, while Karyna Denysova added 15 points as Zhetysu advanced to the semifinals.

With the loss, PLDT bowed out of the Asian tournament after defeating Australia's Queensland Pirates but falling to Thailand's Nakhon Ratchisima QminC.
