PITX sees surge in Holy Week passengers, adds 60 bus trips

Foot traffic at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) may reach 200,000 passengers on Holy Wednesday, according to Kolyn Calbasa, senior corporate affairs officer.

Bus companies have added more trips going to Bicol as passengers continue to flock to PITX; however, tickets for air-conditioned buses and those with restrooms are quickly booked up even before the Holy Week started.

Despite some fully booked trips, PITX has allocated additional bus units through special permits and extra tips to meet the demand, particularly for Bicol region trips, bringing the total number of added trips to around 60.

To address overcrowding, PITX implemented changes in board gate assignments and assured all buses undergo roadworthiness checks while drivers follow designated speed limits.

The terminal holds regular road safety seminars as part of their corporate social responsibility program to maintain discipline among operators and drivers.
