PISTON schedules two-day transport strike against PUVMP

Transport group PISTON announced a two-day nationwide transport strike starting Thursday to protest the government's December 31 deadline for public utility vehicle (PUV) consolidation.

PISTON claims that around 80% of PUV operators are at risk of displacement due to the franchise consolidation requirement, criticizing the DoTr and LTFRB for causing job losses and economic hardship.

The group also noted that most local government units are still not prepared for consolidation and emphasized the need for further completion of the local public transport route plan (LPTRP).
