Gov’t provides PHP164.48M aid for Mt. Kanlaon eruption victims

The national government and local authorities have provided PHP164.48 million in aid to families affected by the Mt. Kanlaon eruption, with PHP54.53 million allocated to Western Visayas and PHP109.95 million to Central Visayas.

This assistance includes food packs, sleeping kits, hygiene kits, tents, waterproof covers, laminated sacks, generator sets, and financial aid for 9,955 affected families across the two regions.

Approximately 46,787 individuals are impacted by the eruption, with 12,227 families residing in 26 villages in Western Visayas and Central Visayas.

Currently, 34 evacuation centers house 4,020 families, while an additional 2,351 families receive aid outside these centers.

Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino has proposed the permanent relocation of communities within the six-kilometer danger zone around Mt. Kanlaon to address long-term safety concerns.
