Philippines, WHO sign agreement for COVID-19 vaccine solidarity trial

The Philippines and the World Health Organization (WHO) have signed a letter of agreement to conduct large-scale coronavirus vaccine trials in the country.

The trials aim to determine which vaccines are most effective for Filipinos, provide longest protection, and can be easily administered and manufactured locally.

Qualified participants will undergo initial screening by local teams following WHO protocol; 3,000 individuals are expected to participate across eight proposed sites including Manila, Pasig City, Cebu City, and Davao City.

The clinical trials are in the regulatory approval phase with final documents submitted by WHO for review by Philippine authorities.
