Philippines reports record-high cases, zero deaths

The Philippines reported its highest daily increase in COVID-19 cases with 2,539 new infections on Wednesday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases over 50,000.

On Thursday, the Department of Health (DOH) reported zero deaths for the first time since March, while positive cases continued to rise.

Total recoveries increased to 12,813 after 225 more patients recovered from the disease, and the death toll remained at 1,314.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque attributed the spike in cases to expanded testing capacity and emphasized that local government units should enforce localized lockdowns and strict public health standards.
