Philippines urges ASEAN cooperation on food, medicine during COVID-19

The Philippine government emphasized the need for stronger regional cooperation to ensure food security and access to medicine during the ASEAN Coordinating Council meeting held via teleconference on Friday.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. stressed the importance of a stable rice supply, medicines, personal protective equipment, and maintaining peace in the South China Sea.

Locsin's remarks came amid concerns over food security and medical supplies due to the global coronavirus crisis.
