PH reports record 259 COVID-19 deaths

The Philippines reported a record number of 259 COVID-19 deaths on Monday, September 14.

Most of these deaths occurred in August (110) and earlier months; only 28 were from September.

The DOH reclassified 253 previously recorded recoveries as deaths due to the 'time-based strategy' where patients are considered recovered after 14 days post-isolation or testing.

New infections also surged, with over 4,000 cases reported for seven consecutive days.

Metro Manila had the highest number of new infections at 1,498, followed by Cavite and Bataan.
