Philippines gets more Sinovac doses, vaccinations set to rebound

An additional 23,800 vials of Sinovac's CoronaVac vaccine arrived in Bacolod City on Tuesday for distribution to Negros Occidental.

This shipment is part of a larger supply with over 15 million doses expected this month, including 4.5 million from Sinovac and other vaccines from Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Sinopharm which was approved for emergency use in the Philippines.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. noted that vaccinations decreased last week due to low supply but expects a rebound with expected deliveries this month.

The latest shipment of 1 million doses arrived on Sunday morning, bringing the total CoronaVac doses received to 6.5 million, including donations from China.

These vaccines will be distributed to areas experiencing surges in infections such as Metro Manila and Western Visayas.
