PH can test novel coronavirus samples locally in 48 hours

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III announced that the Philippines can now set up its own capability to detect the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) within 48 hours.

Japan provided an RNA primer needed for confirmatory testing, enabling RITM to conduct tests locally without sending samples to Melbourne, Australia.

With this new capability, the DOH no longer needs to send samples abroad for confirmation.
