Philippines marks 100 years in Olympics with delegation of 22 athletes

This summer marks the 100th year of the Philippines' participation in the Olympic Games, with a delegation of 22 athletes aiming to bring home medals for their country.

Teofilo Yldefonso won the nation's first Olympic medal, a bronze, during the 1928 Amsterdam Games and followed up with another in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. It took nearly nine decades until Hidilyn Diaz won the Philippines' first gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

The country has won 14 medals in total, including its first gold in Tokyo 2021, and continues to inspire future athletes with its rich history of athletic achievements.
