Philippines logs 696 new COVID-19 cases; active tally climbs to 12,491

On Friday, Jan 13, the Philippines recorded 696 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the active tally to 12,491.

This rise follows five consecutive days with fewer than 500 daily cases.

The DOH reported a total caseload of 4,069,734 and noted that NCR had the highest number of infections in the past two weeks (1,984), followed by Calabarzon (998).

Recoveries increased to 3,991,690 with 75 new recoveries, while deaths rose to 65,553 with 27 additional fatalities.

As of Wednesday, Jan 11, bed occupancy in the country stood at 19.8%, with 5,327 beds occupied and 21,615 vacant.
