NCR COVID-19 positivity rate drops to 5%

The positivity rate for COVID-19 in the National Capital Region (NCR) dropped to 5% as of January 10.

This is a significant decrease from the previous week's rate of 7.9%.

According to OCTA Research, this marks the first time since June 22 that NCR has had a positivity rate below 5%.

While NCR and several other regions in Luzon have seen decreases in their positivity rates, Isabela, Oriental Mindoro, and Palawan experienced significant increases.

Isabela's positivity rate surged from 35.1% to 62.3%, while Oriental Mindoro went from 16.3% to 38.5%, and Palawan increased from 22.6% to 25.3%.

OCTA Research attributes these fluctuations to varying levels of immunity and different omicron subvariants in each province.
