Philippines logs 171 new COVID cases, daily average up by 16%

The Philippines recorded 171 new COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases to over 4.07 million.

Active infections decreased to 9,082 while recoveries increased to 3,999,982.

The country's death toll stands at 65,985 with Metro Manila having the highest number of new infections in the last two weeks.

Daily average cases rose by 16% from February 6-12, with an additional 1,101 cases and 98 verified deaths reported that week.

As of Feb. 12, ICU bed occupancy was at 13.9%, while non-ICU beds were utilized at 19.6%. There were also 426 severe and critical admissions.

Over 73 million Filipinos or 94.57% of the target population have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with 21 million receiving booster shots.
