Philippines logs 12,426 new COVID cases in week

The Philippines recorded 12,426 new COVID-19 infections from May 15 to May 21, marking a slight increase from the previous week.

This is the highest number of weekly cases since October 2022 and marks the 12th consecutive week of increasing case numbers.

The daily average rose by 0.1% to 1,775 cases per day, with 87 severe or critical cases accounting for 0.7% of total infections.

There were 13 additional deaths reported from June 2022 to May 2023, and ICU bed utilization decreased slightly while non-ICU bed occupancy increased.
