PAGASA warns of widespread rain, thunderstorms in Luzon due to habagat

PAGASA forecasts widespread rain showers and thunderstorms across parts of Luzon due to the southwest monsoon (habagat) on Wednesday, with scattered rains expected specifically in Northern and Central Luzon.

Cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are anticipated in the Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Cordillera region, Central Luzon, and Cagayan Valley, while Metro Manila, Visayas, Mindanao, and other parts of Luzon will experience generally fair weather.

Residents in affected areas are urged to prepare for potential flooding and landslides as moderate to heavy rains could cause flash floods during severe thunderstorms.

Tropical Storm Ampil remains distant from the country without affecting it directly, moving away and maintaining a low probability of any tropical cyclone forming within the Philippine area of responsibility until the end of the week.

PAGASA did not raise any gale alerts for any seaboard nationwide due to the generally fair weather conditions expected in most parts of the country.
