Philippines files protests vs China over South China Sea violations

Philippines files two diplomatic protests against China over alleged violations of international law and Philippine sovereignty in the South China Sea.

The protests concern China's pointing of a radar gun at a Philippine Navy ship in Philippine waters and its declaration that parts of Philippine territory are part of Hainan province.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. stated both actions violate international law and Philippine sovereignty, urging continued protest to ensure such moves cannot be seen as accepted by Manila.
