Galvez: 'Massive forced quarantine' eyed for PUIs and PUMs

The government is considering a 'massive forced quarantine' for persons under investigation (PUI) and persons under monitoring (PUM) if the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases does not decrease.

Galvez, chief implementer of the national action plan against COVID-19, stated that home quarantine has proven ineffective in low-income communities due to limited space for physical distancing.

He added that the decision will be based on a case-by-case basis, considering if individuals can effectively isolate themselves at home.
