Philippines' recoveries climb to 438,780; new cases at 766

As of Monday, December 28, the Philippines' total number of COVID-19 recoveries climbed to 438,780 with an additional 104 patients recovering.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 766 new confirmed cases and 15 deaths, bringing the active case count to 22,746 and the death toll to 9,124.

Davao City had the highest number of fresh infections with 60 cases.

The DOH also noted that about 80 percent of active cases are mild, while 3.2 percent are severe and 6 percent are in critical condition.

Experts from the University of the Philippines project that by the end of 2021, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases could reach up to 800,000 if current efforts continue.
