PAGASA warns 31 areas may hit dangerous heat levels, Metro Manila to reach 43°C on Sunday

PAGASA has issued a heat index forecast warning that 31 areas across the Philippines may experience dangerous levels on Saturday, May 18, with conditions worsening in Metro Manila where temperatures are expected to reach 43°C on Sunday.

Dagupan City in Pangasinan and Roxas City are expected to reach 45°C, while Bacnotan in La Union and Sangley Point in Cavite will also face extreme heat conditions with a heat index of 44°C.

Laoag City, Iba, Zambales, Casiguran, Aurora, Coron, Palawan, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Cuyo, Palawan, NAIA Pasay City, and other listed areas are predicted to hit 43°C.

Hot weather up to 42°C is anticipated in Tuguegarao City, ISU Echague, Isabela, CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, Cubi Point, Subic Bay, Alabat, Quezon, Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, Daet, Camarines Norte, Legazpi City, Albay, Masbate City, Masbate, Juban, Sorsogon.

PAGASA advises that heat cramps and exhaustion are likely in these areas, with the possibility of heat stroke from prolonged exposure; public health officials recommend staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activities, and using sun protection to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Baguio City remains cooler at 26°C compared to other regions under the danger level category.
