ST Kristine, ST Leon kill 145, displace 311K

As of Friday morning, the death toll from Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and Super Typhoon Leon has risen to 145, with 84 people injured and 21 still missing.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that over 7.95 million individuals across 17 regions have been affected by the storms, displacing nearly 311,980 people, with about 81,716 living in evacuation centers.

Government and non-government organizations have provided PHP996.6 million worth of assistance to approximately 588,784 families across 15 regions.

Damage to infrastructure is now estimated at P6.82 billion and to agriculture at P4.43 billion, while damaged houses amount to over P3.4 million.

Operations in 96 seaports were suspended, stranding passengers and vessels, while three airports also halted operations due to weather threats.

Classes in 1,167 areas and work schedules in 782 areas remain suspended as a precautionary measure.
