Philippine COVID cases drop 15%, positivity rate decreases

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines has dropped by 15% to 2,959 per day as of August 27, according to OCTA Research.

OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David noted that two weeks ago, the one-week average was at its highest point with 4,071 cases.

The reproduction number also slightly decreased to 0.91 on August 24 from 0.96 on August 17, indicating a slowing down of virus transmission.

Additionally, the nationwide positivity rate declined from 16.2% to 14.3% as of August 26.
