PH logs 31K new infections, 26K recoveries

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on January 20th, 2022, that there were 31,173 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) infections and 26,298 recoveries in the Philippines. This pushed active cases to 275,364 with total recoveries jumping to 2,995,961 or 90.1% of all recorded infections since March 2020. The majority (95%) of new cases occurred within the recent two weeks from January 7th to January 20th, with the National Capital Region (NCR) recording the highest number at 8,883 or 30%. Active cases include 262,168 mild cases, 2,979 moderate cases, 8,424 asymptomatic cases, 1,488 severe cases and 305 critical cases. The death toll rose to 53,153 with 110 new fatalities recorded.
