PNP reports 93 more cops recover from COVID, 106 new cases

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported on Monday that 93 more police officers have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the recovery tally to 30,402.

However, there were also 106 new cases recorded, increasing active cases to 1,970.

A 50-year-old officer in Region 1 died of complications from the virus on August 16, making it the 92nd PNP fatality.

PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar reported that over 70,000 police personnel are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, with 35.66% being fully vaccinated and 41.89% awaiting their second dose.

As of August 15, two more officers died from the virus, bringing the total death toll to 91.

The latest fatality on August 9 was a 48-year-old officer in South Cotabato who had tested positive for Covid-19 and succumbed to the disease after being hospitalized.
