Philippine hospitals prepare for possible COVID-19 spike during holidays

Hospitals and medical personnel are preparing for a potential spike in COVID-19 cases during the holiday season.

Dr. Encarnita Limpin of the Philippine College of Physicians stated that hospitals have sufficient supplies and more information to handle new cases.

Private hospitals, despite facing funding and staffing issues, are also prepared for an increase in cases as requested by the government earlier this year.

The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) currently has 98 COVID-19 patients and is maintaining its capacity for potential surges post-holiday season.

Spox Jonas del Rosario of PGH expressed hope that the surge will not be too high, allowing them to accommodate both coronavirus and non-coronavirus patients.
