Petecio wins bronze in women's 57kg boxing, marks second straight Olympic medal

Nesthy Petecio secured a bronze medal in women's 57kg boxing at the Paris Olympics, marking her second consecutive Olympic medal following her silver win in Tokyo.

Petecio expressed joy during Team Philippines' homecoming celebration on Tuesday evening and inspired young athletes at Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday, emphasizing the importance of pursuing dreams despite challenges.

Alongside Petecio, Aira Villegas also won a bronze medal in women's 50kg boxing, while Hergie Bacyadan made her Olympic debut.

Despite Carlo Paalam and Eumir Marcial not winning medals this time around, Philippine boxers' overall performance was still considered successful.

Petecio is optimistic about boxing remaining an Olympic sport for the Los Angeles Games in 2028 but remains committed to competing at high levels and inspiring future generations.
