Village councilor Yusop nabbed in drug bust, PHP20M shabu seized

Anti-narcotics agents intercepted a village councilor named Yusop in Jolo, Sulu during a drug bust on Thursday.

Yusop, 46 years old and a high-value target, was caught selling drugs to an undercover agent and seized PHP20 million worth of shabu, including three kilograms of shabu in vacuum-sealed packages.

Along with the confiscated drugs, authorities also recovered mobile phones and a motorcycle used in the transaction.

Since January, over PHP100 million worth of shabu has been confiscated in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Previously, on September 12, PHP13.6 million worth of shabu was seized from a police officer and three others during an operation in Jolo.

In another incident on August 4, a police officer and three companions were arrested in Tawi-Tawi with shabu worth PHP68,000.
