DOH eyes suspending eased age limits over virus variant

DOH is considering recommending to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to suspend easing age restrictions due to new cases of the B.1.1.7 variant in individuals aged 18 and below.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said this recommendation aims to prevent further infections from the new variant.

In contrast, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque warned that not relaxing these age restrictions could lead to economic deterioration and negative impacts on jobs, income, poverty, and hunger.
