Palace urges timely passage of 2021 budget amid House leadership dispute

The Philippine government is urging the House of Representatives to pass the P4.5-trillion 2021 national budget on time despite ongoing leadership disputes.

Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado expressed hope that the proposed budget, mostly intended for COVID-19 response, will still be passed according to schedule.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated that the controversy over House speakership is resolved and urged lawmakers to pass the pandemic budget without delay after President Duterte met with Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and his family at Malacañang.
