Philippine gov't arranges repatriation of OFWs' remains from Saudi

Filipino OFWs' remains, including those of 50 who died from COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia, will either be buried there or repatriated this week.

Families of the deceased workers are being informed and given options for burial abroad due to mobility restrictions caused by the pandemic.

The DFA is arranging cargo flights to bring home the remains while the DOLE aims to start repatriation this week.

Malacañang stated that those who died from causes other than COVID-19 will be sent back to the Philippines, but those who succumbed to the virus must be buried in Saudi Arabia per local customs.
