Palace: Education crisis claim dismissed

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro dismissed claims of an education crisis after a TV contestant admitted to lacking knowledge about the Commission on Elections.

Castro stated during a press briefing that individual shortcomings do not reflect government efforts in improving education and encouraged individuals to take initiative to educate themselves through available resources, including the internet.

She emphasized that the President is committed to elevating educational standards through various initiatives and allocations, such as the recent order to allocate PHP 700 million for early child development centers.

The press officer also highlighted existing data showing students' struggles in math and reading comprehension, which is why the government is focusing on early childhood learning and development.

Castro said that social sciences are already included in the curriculum to raise social awareness among students.
