Roque denies blaming Iloilo residents for COVID surge

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque denied blaming Iloilo City residents for the surge in COVID-19 cases.

Roque emphasized that following minimum public health standards like mask-wearing, handwashing, and social distancing remains crucial despite vaccine availability.

He also dismissed Mayor Jerry Treñas' comment about his quick mouth as a friendly jest since Roque's mother is from Iloilo.

On Monday, the Palace denied claims that the rise in COVID-19 cases in provinces was due to insufficient vaccine supply.

Roque assured that Metro Manila and nearby provinces received only 32% of the country’s total vaccine doses, countering Treñas' criticism about unfair distribution.
