Palace: No full transport resumption yet due to COVID-19 threat

Malacañang said on Sunday that the government cannot allow all modes of transportation to resume operations due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque acknowledged commuters' frustrations but emphasized the need for limited public utility vehicle (PUV) operations to minimize virus spread.

Roque stated that Metro Manila is still under General Community Quarantine, making it imperative to maintain restrictions on transportation to prevent a surge in infections.

He stressed that allowing all PUVs to operate would undermine efforts to flatten the curve and control the pandemic until a vaccine or cure becomes available.
