Pagasa warns of severe thunderstorms in Metro Manila and nearby provinces

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued a thunderstorm advisory on Tuesday afternoon, warning of moderate to heavy rain with lightning in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, Cavite, Batangas, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan are expected to experience severe weather conditions for the next two hours.

Pagasa advised residents to take precautionary measures against potential hazards such as flash floods and landslides.

Moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds are also expected in Metro Manila, Zambales (Botolan, San Marcelino, Santa Cruz, Candelaria, Masinloc, Palauig, Iba), Tarlac (Bamban, Capas), Quezon (General Nakar), Pampanga (Porac), Laguna (Santa Rosa), and Rizal (Rodriguez).

Pagasa's general forecast for July 15 anticipates overcast skies and rain due to the southwest monsoon, or habagat.
