PAGASA warns of rains, possible flash floods in parts of Luzon due to Habagat, LPA

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and a low pressure area (LPA) will continue to bring rains over parts of Luzon in the next 24 hours, according to PAGASA.

Pangasinan, Zambales, and Occidental Mindoro will experience occasional rains due to the Habagat, while Batanes and Cagayan will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms from the LPA.

These conditions may trigger flash floods or landslides in affected areas due to moderate to heavy rains.

The rest of Luzon and Western Visayas will see similar weather patterns as Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao continue to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms from the Southwest Monsoon.

State meteorologists noted that the LPA has a 'high' chance of developing into a tropical depression within 24 hours and is currently located 200 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes.

The rest of the country will observe partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms, while coastal waters in northern and western sections of Luzon may become moderate to rough.
