PAGASA warns of dangerous heat index up to 46°C in multiple areas

PAGASA warned of dangerous heat index levels up to 46°C in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte; Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Pili, Camarines Sur; and other areas across the Philippines on Thursday, May 16.

Temperatures ranging from 42°C to 46°C were recorded in places like Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Bacnotan, La Union; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Roxas City, Capiz; and Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Pasay City due to high humidity.

The weather bureau advised people to limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours and stay hydrated, emphasizing the risk of heat-related ailments such as cramps or exhaustion.

Individuals going outside were reminded to use umbrellas, wear hats, and dress in sleeved clothing for protection against extreme temperatures.

Metro Manila will have partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the easterlies, while other parts of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.

PAGASA issued a warning that individuals are at risk of heat-related ailments such as heat cramps or heat exhaustion under these conditions.
