PAGASA warns of scattered rains, heavy to intense downpours in parts of Luzon

PAGASA reported that a shear line and northeast monsoon (amihan) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains across parts of Luzon on Wednesday, affecting Metro Manila, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, Quezon, Kalayaan Islands, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Isabela province will experience heavy to intense rain, while Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and the rest of Cagayan Valley may see moderate to heavy rainfall due to the shear line, increasing the risk of flooding in urbanized areas, low-lying regions, and potential landslides in susceptible areas.

Batanes will have cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to Amihan, while the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Aurora, Kalayaan Islands, and the rest of Cagayan Valley will see scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

PAGASA advised local government units in Isabela and other affected areas to prepare for potential flash floods and landslides due to heavy rainfall from the shear line and amihan.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may expect partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms, while strong winds and rough coastal waters will prevail over Northern Luzon.
