Pagasa warns Bicol of heavy rain due to shear line

The Bicol Region is expected to experience heavy rainfall this weekend due to a shear line, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Heavy rain of 100-200 millimeters was predicted for Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Northern Samar on Friday, with similar conditions expected in Catanduanes and Albay on Saturday.

A yellow rainfall warning is in effect until Saturday in Quezon, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Northern Samar, indicating 50-100 mm of rain.

Pagasa expert Chenel Dominguez noted that the northeast monsoon and intertropical convergence zone will bring overcast skies with rain showers to many parts of the country, affecting regions like Caraga, Davao Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Visayas, and Mimaropa.

The region is expected to remain free from low-pressure areas for the next five days, ensuring no additional weather disturbances.
