Typhoon Marce maintains Signal No. 2 in five areas, Signal No. 1 elsewhere

Typhoon Marce has moved further away from the Ilocos Region but Signal No. 2 remains in five areas as per PAGASA's advisory.

Signal No. 1 is still active for Batanes, Babuyan Islands, mainland Cagayan and other parts of Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, the rest of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan.

Marce was last spotted 100 kilometers west northwest of Laoag City moving at 20 kph with maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness up to 170 kph. It's forecasted to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility this afternoon or evening.

There is a high risk of life-threatening storm surge in Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union with peak surge heights exceeding 3.0 meters over low-lying or exposed coastal localities.

Its trough will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur for the next 24 hours.

Gale-force gusts are expected in Batanes, northern Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Region due to northeasterly wind flow and Marce's periphery.
